John’s Winter & Spring Blog 2020

Dear All

Again, it is some time since I have written a Blog and we are now into Spring according to the meteorological office. Howbeit it is raining and continues to rain but at least living in Eastbourne we do not have the worry of floods and our heart goes out to all those who are suffering at this time. Since Daniel our new manager joined us in mid-January it has rained virtually every day and he cycles to work!! We continue to pray to Almighty God that He will preserve us through these difficult days of floods and now the threat of the Coronavirus and very soon upon us will be the Spring Budget for 2020! We will obviously write to you about any changes as soon as they become evident and how they will affect you going forward.

From our own prospective I am pleased to report that we have just negotiated a new Lease to our office here in Chantry House, at least guaranteeing occupation for at least four years, possibly seven. The building has been acquired from the Child’s Trust by a new owner, Zak. However, we have been assured by the new owner of occupation for the foreseeable future which is certainly good news. Because of that we are now moving across from the downstairs North Wing to the South Wing in the next two weeks and we would be very pleased to welcome clients and friends, to see us.

On the staffing front I mentioned in my last Blog that Daniel Fairhead was about to join us. Daniel is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in the auditing world and fast learning the ways of a small Practicing Accountants office. Daniel is a member of Victoria Baptist Church, Eastbourne and joins our management team with myself, Colin and Vanessa, together with Jacob as we continue to uphold the values of the firm and provide services to our clients.

Many people have mentioned to me they see this building as a Beacon on a hill, witnessing to our faith and integrity and it is our prayer that will continue. As I have mentioned before, I do not intend to retire but I certainly want to reduce my working week a little bit and I am sure my wife will be pleased to see a little bit more of me. So, rest assured I will still be around for a number of years yet as we seek to develop and expand the firm. We have been blessed with a significant number of new clients over the last two years and the growth has enabled us to take on new staff, including Anastassia our new accountant responsible for bookkeeping and clients financial records working alongside Liam and others. We certainly need the extra space that the South Wing will bring to us and we are grateful to Almighty God to still be here.

Lydia, our trainee chartered accountant has just passed another set of examinations – so well done to her.

As I mentioned above, the forthcoming budget will bring changes and there are a number of areas of new legislation like the ‘Off payroll rules’ and new property rules applicable from April 2020 and if you need advice in this area. Antonina, Colin or myself would be pleased to help.

We continue to offer full auditing independent examination, accountancy services, along with Trust formation, a payroll bureau, VAT support, management accounting and financial accounts office bureau services – so do not hesitate to contact us whatever your need may be!
